The Beginning

Meredith's athletic journey began at an early age. Growing up, he played both quarterback and safety, developing an understanding of the game from opposite sides of the football. When he entered High School, he began concentrating on defense, a transition that allowed his natural anticipation, physical ability, and football intelligence to flourish.

A Two-Sport Foundation

His development was also shaped by his experience as a two-sport athlete. In addition to football, Meredith competed in track and field, recording a triple jump of 44 feet, 1.5 inches as a freshman and a 21.74-second time in the 200 meters the following year. That background helped develop the explosiveness, speed, coordination, and body control that distinguish his play in the secondary.

National Recognition

Meredith's impact on the football field quickly earned recognition. He was named the District 4-6A Defensive Newcomer of the Year in 2024, later received first-team all-district honors, and earned selection to the Under Armour All-America Game. As his reputation grew, Meredith emerged as a consensus five-star recruit and one of the most highly regarded defensive backs in the country.

Standing 6 feet 2 inches and weighing approximately 180 pounds, Meredith possesses the length, range, and athletic versatility desired at the cornerback position. Beyond his physical attributes, he is recognized for his high football IQ, competitive confidence, and ability to anticipate plays that many young athletes do not yet see developing.

Adversity Into Opportunity

Meredith transferred to North Crowley High School ahead of what was expected to be his senior season. However, a district eligibility ruling prevented him from competing after the transfer was determined to have been made for athletic purposes. Rather than allowing the ruling to interrupt his progress, Meredith transformed the setback into an opportunity to accelerate his future.

Committed. Reclassified. Arrived.

In June 2026, he committed to play for the University of Texas. On July 23, 2026, Meredith announced that he would reclassify from the 2027 recruiting class to the 2026 class, enroll early, and begin his collegiate career with the Texas Longhorns.

The decision placed Meredith among the youngest players in college football and required him to make an unusually demanding transition. Arriving after spring practice, he immediately began learning the defensive system under defensive coordinator Will Muschamp while adjusting to the increased speed, complexity, and physical demands of the college game.

Development on the Forty Acres

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian has emphasized a development-first approach, allowing Meredith to progress without the pressure of a predetermined playing timetable. The Longhorns' staff remains focused on coaching, developing, and preparing him to contribute when he is fully ready.

Meredith begins his Texas career wearing No. 0, a number that has carried special significance within the Longhorns program and reflects the confidence surrounding his potential. His journey from youth quarterback and safety to five-star defensive back, early enrollee, and Texas Longhorn demonstrates his adaptability, resilience, and determination to continue moving forward when confronted with adversity.
